For the 61st Lightapalooza 2013 contest, we were inspired by Top Pro Elite Rick Sammon‘s photography tutorial on adding shadows to portraits. By adding shadows, photographers can achieve dimension and depth in their images. We asked participating contestants to submit their best image that incorporated shadows. We received over 50 wonderful images and chose British Columbia’s Spencer Cox as the winning participant! His photograph of a winter ski trip was a stunning example of how shadows can add dimensions to even the broadest of areas.
As winner, Spencer will be receiving a Westcott 26″ Rapid Box Octa. The Rapid Box Octa is a durable and light-weight light modifier constructed with an umbrella-style frame. This modifier produces soft-even lighting. Spencer will also be receiving a SteadePod camera steadier, courtesy of this week’s sponsor Pro Studio Supply and a Lightapalooza 2013 Golden Ticket, which will enter him into the year-end drawing for the coveted grand prize.
With so many stunning submissions, we had a very difficult time choosing a single winner. So, we would also like to congratulate Brandon Otto of Fayetteville, Arkansas as our second place contestant of the 61st Lightapalooza contest. He also submitted a fantastic portrait example of dimension. As runner-up, Brandon will also be receiving a Lightapalooza 2013 Golden Ticket.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in this Lightapalooza contest and wish everyone luck in the final round of contests. This will be your final chance at scoring a coveted Golden Ticket! Enter now through Friday, December 13th.
