Westcott has been traveling all through the country lately and we wanted to update everyone on our travels!

Texas School of Professional Photography

(05/03/2010 – 05/06/2010)

photoThere is nothing quite like the Texas School of Photography! If you’ve never been, you are missing out on one of the most intense educational workshops out there. Not only is the education spectacular but each full day of is followed by a dinner event highlighted as a themed party for the students.

What went on?

Monday started things out with a Woodstock themed party complete with a torrential downpour! (wouldn’t be Woodstock without one) Tuesday followed with an outstanding Toga party with a live band. Wednesday, well that evening was something special! Arlington Camera, who sets up shop for the entire event, hosted a free dinner event at The Western Store. The tradeshow event, which was six full hours, allowed the students to pour into the tradeshow area and shop till their hearts desire! Prize giveaways totaled over $6,000 and one lucky person took home a Photo Basics by Westcott 5-in-1 Reflector Kit complete with 7.5' Stand, Reflector Arm and Educational DVD! Thursday was a new event for Texas School called a “Shoot Out” in Addison Park where students had the opportunity to take part in a photography competition. The week was concluded with the unveiling of the official Texas School Video. The video was shot and produced all week and documents the classes and parties all week.

We had a great show and the response from the students and teachers was overwhelming! Thank you all for making this another spectacular event!

The Photographic, Video & Digital Imaging Show

(05/14/2010 – 5/16/2010)

Westcott was very excited to be an exhibiter for the first time at the Photographic, Video and Digital Imaging Show in Toronto, Canada. This show is so popular and well planned that attendees where waiting in line long before we even arrived. The trade show floor was hopping with over 20,000 people cramming the isles and filling the many classes that were offered by the host Henry’s Camera. John Williamson (Technical Rep for Westcott) had the opportunity to teach classes while there for Westcott. “I was very honored to be able to instruct two classes each day on Studio Lighting and Lighting with your Speedlight…by the end of the first day we knew Henry’s definitely has something special with this show” said Williamson.

And if we thought the first day went well, we were blown away by the second. Not only was attendance some of the best we have ever seen but the quality of attendee was impressive to say the least. In fact, the 250 to 300 people who attended EACH of his seminars on the first day impressed Williamson. He was also completely blown away by the almost 400 who attended the second day. Everyone at the show energetically welcomed Westcott and we are looking forward to the fall show in October!
