Shooting on a lake in Michigan, Westcott Top Pro Elite photographer Terry White uses the Westcott Rapid Box Octa to balance sunlight during mid-day portrait session. Using the Rapid Box and a speedlite to better control the light illuminating his model, Terry is able to slow his shutter speed to dim the ambient lighting. Typically photographer plan for outdoor shoots early or late in the daytime, to avoid harsh overhead sunlight.  This may not always be planned for however, and it is essential to learn which tools to use to correct this sort of ambient light. Photographers utilize the flash and shutter speeds to control both dim and bright ambient lighting.
