Using the Rapid Box to Create Depth and Dimension

In this Westcott video, Top Pro Elite Rick Sammon discusses the dimension and depth that proper lighting can create in portraits. As Sammon states, “light illuminates, shadows define”. He uses the Westcott Rapid Box shining from a 2 o’clock position, slightly above eye-level, onto his subject. This lighting technique is often used by photographers and other portrait artists to add dimension in their work. Sammon positioned his model facing away from the light source, which created dimension-building shadows along her face.

Rick uses the Rapid Box to create dimension with shadows and highlights in this Westcott video.
