Jonathan Thorpe is a cinematic photographer whose technical ability to light and direct a story rings true in the images he produces. His approach drums emotion yet maintains a level of verisimilitude in the form of “Hyper Realistic” portraiture. After receiving a camera as a present, Jonathan switched to photography in 2009 from a profession in optometry, Jonathan shoots full-time nationally and local to his home in Washington D.C.
When not producing client work, Jonathan often will create his own personal projects, in order to keep his creativity sharp and keep photography fun. He’s is currently a Tamron Image Master, a Holdfast Gear Ambassador, and is represented by Wonderful Machine in Philadelphia. Alongside his photography, Jonathan teaches and lectures around the world helping other photographers grow confident in their careers and forays into photography.
When not shooting, Jonathan enjoys building and riding motorcycles in his free time. He’s also worked with some of the biggest brands in the world, including Adidas, BMW, Lululemon, Kellogs, Red Bull, and DefJam to name a few.
